The girls also make a MAJOR announcement about MLR teaming up with Girls in Wonderland for this June’s Orlando trip! That’s right, the backing power of Pandora Event’s GIRLS IN WONDERLAND- with the same insanely, pant-wetting fun of the traditional MLR parties of years past! GIW customizes a party for the MLR listeners – games, prizes, great DJ, and big laughs! Later, the star of “And Then Came Lola…” Ashleigh Sumner calls in to give us some behind the scene scoop on the hottest lesbian movie out there right now. The chat roomer’s step up and make donations to POWER UP for Girltrash! forcing Denise to honor some dares! The Bar Tab features a Drink of The Week is called a Dick Wad- a little scotch, a little bitters, some ginger ale and a lime. The Cool Place(s) to Hang covers both sides of the globe, featuring a new hotel in Tampa, FL called The Flamingo (www.flamingofla.com) and a sexy, sophisticated bar in Sydney, Australia called Slide in Darlinghurst (www.slide.com.au) The Cool Websites of the Week feature www.sapphicsydney.com.au where you can find ladies events all over Sydney, Australia and www.rainbowsauce.com, a very cool, one stop resource for GLBT books, CD’s, music, comedy, and queer films to buy or gather information. TV Talk includes what the ladies watched and mexi-comic Sandra Valls takes to the phone to let the girls in on a Hard Rock, Hollywood FL appearance! The girls wrap with event announcements and thanks to the chat roomer’s for their donations and time. The show goes out on Cold Shoulder from Amy Ray’s “Didn’t It Feel Kinder” CD.
The girls kick off with a review of Lavender Events’ “You Have a Date” Valentine’s Party, complete with some new chat room members from the party. Comic Michele Balan calls in, after a few vodkas, to talk up her comedy show at the gayborhood’s newest venue, The Manor in Fort Lauderdale. Producer Vic hits the music perfectly for Michele! The Bar Tab features two Cool Websites from opposite sides of the pond. www.diningdykes.co.uk is a London-based social group that has over 500 members and offers a broad range of activities for gay women. www.womensheartsandhands.com is a camp which was formed to create a community of women guitar players who would be affirmed and supported by other women guitar players. The Cool Places of the Week are “Uncle Elizabeth’s” in Bloomington, Indiana and also “Babylon” in Fort Wayne, Indiana- two great clubs with music and dancing for us queers. The Drink of the Week is an Irish Honeydipper – the perfect hot toddy or refreshing when served with a cold twist. Later, Lisa Thrasher of POWER UP Films calls in with the official word- “It’s a Wrap!” as “GIRLTRASH-All Night Long”- the Lesbian Rock Musical Comedy written by Angela Robinson- concludes filming. Lisa breaks down the next phase in production and comes up with some ideas to raise money by suggesting Denise and Donna “do dares for donations”. The girls wind things up with “Relationship Advice in One Sentence from Jemma” and a bunch of upcoming event announcements. The show goes out with “Love of Our Lives” from the Indigo Girls.
Kicking off the new year: A review of Donna’s New Year’s Eve party, from food to guests to levels of drunkeness, featuring the usual gang and some nice reconnects. The girls welcome guest Merryn Johns, editor of BOUND Magazine, who discusses this month’s issue with Lady Gaga on the cover, some of the highlights and drops a few teasers for next month. This NEW glossy international lesbian magazine keeps you in the know with content that spans the globe, features great covers & guests, politics, fashion, news, celebrity hot topics and cool articles from top notch writers. Later, the always funny Suzanne Westenhoefer calls in to talk up her appearance at the brand new Fort Lauderdale venue The Manor. Suzanne kicks off the Laugh OUT Loud series which will feature a monthly comedy night. The Bar Tab features a gay and lesbian resource Site of the week called www.queerlisting.com and the Cool Place to Hang is an amazing little New York Thai restaurant called Spice in the East Village (www.spicethainyc.com) The Drinks of the Week are a Minty Hot Chocolate, featuring hot cocoa and Rumplemintz, and a Hot Apple Pie, which involves Bailey’s, Butterscotch Schnapps and cinnamon. The girls blaze past TV Talk, as the local Lesbian Mafia head, South Florida’s very own Alison Burgos, calls in to talk up The Manor and its upcoming events, and what’s coming up in our local LGBT backyard. The 4th Annual Drunk Dial Pre-Thanksgiving Show kicks off with a traditional call to Donna’s mother (viewmynewvag.com) and some “Sweet Techniques” for teaching in Producer Vicki’s classroom, and slowly spirals down the drunken path of debauchery. Lisa Thrasher of POWER UP calls in with some exciting news – GIRLTRASH: All Night Long, written by Angela Robinson (The L Word, Hung, Girltrash, D.E.B.S.), gets underway in a week! Donations are helpful, and Donna already pledges to raise money- cash for dares! Shannon Wentworth jumps all over that with a $100 donation! Later, longtime friend of The Lounge, musician Julie Schurr, checks in! Dana Goldberg calls in with holiday wishes, and tells us her debut DVD “Hot & Bothered – Dana Goldberg Live” is now available. The drunk dialing continues with calls to comedian Amy Tee, Cathy DeBueno, and then gets even crazier with a call to Carly Pope (on set in Toronto!) Things really get interesting when Denise proposes to Jemma and plans a New Year’s Fiasco of a Wedding on the air. The girls drunk dial musician JD Danner and chat as she holiday shops at Walmart. A call from chatroom regular “olygirl“ warms the girls hearts with holiday wishes.
